The train that never stops at a station

A brilliant new Chinese train innovation - Non-Stop Train.

Current Scenario
- Train stopping and accelerating again at each station will waste both energy and time. If there are 30 stations between Beijing and Guangzhou, A mere 5 min stop per station (elderly passengers cannot be hurried) will result in a total loss of 5 min x 30 stations or 2.5 hours of train journey time!

Proposed

- The bullet train is moving all the time. Nowhere it stops and No time is wasted.

How it works

1. For those who are boarding the train : The passengers at a station embarks onto to a connector cabin way before the train even arrives at the station. When the train arrives, it will not stop at all. It just slows down to pick up the connector cabin which will move with the train on the roof of the train.

While the train is still moving away from the station, those passengers will board the train from the connector cabin mounted on the train's roof.
After fully unloading all its passengers, the cabin connector cabin will be moved to the back of the train so that the next batch of outgoing passengers who want to alight at the next station will board the connector cabin at the rear of the train roof.

For those who are getting off: As stated after fully unloading all its passengers, the cabin connector cabin will be moved to the back of the train so that the next batch of outgoing passengers who want to alight at the next station will board the connector cabin at the rear of the train roof. When the train arrives at the next station, it will simply drop the whole connector cabin at the station itself and leave it behind at the station. The outgoing passengers can take their own time to disembark at the station while the train had already left. At the same time, the train will pick up the incoming embarking passengers on another connector cabin in the front part of the train's roof. So the train will always drop one connector cabin at the rear of its roof and pick up a new connector cabin in the front part of the train's roof at each station.

Microsoft Surface got Contender

The Microsoft Surface table-like PC will have a competition from atracTable from Sony. The device is powered by technology from Swiss company and sold the tech to Sony. A 35-inch atracTable, prototypes of which are now out and feature a full HD screen with a high contrast will due out this June.

It uses two Sony ISS XCD-V60 cameras to create a 3D image. The cameras can be used to control a cursor, avatar or robot. Whether multi-touch input is supported is unknown. The device was originally developed for the medical field, but can also serve gaming, industrial or retail businesses.

The PC will likely be used in retail stores, as it allows interacting with any devices placed on top of it. The system can also analyze body movements of a body, arm, hand or finger. Sony says it can also read a user's age, sex and feelings such as happiness, anger, surprise, sadness and neutrality.

Microsoft and Nokia tie up to launch Communicator

Microsoft and Nokia launched the first application from their alliance around mobile productivity, Microsoft Communicator Mobile for Nokia devices. It connects directly with a company's communications systems to streamline mobile collaboration. Owners of a number of Symbian based Nokia Eseries smartphones can download the English version from Nokia's Ovi Store.

"Our alliance with Nokia aims to bring the Office productivity experience to the millions of people using Nokia smartphones around the world," says Kirt Debique, General Manager at Microsoft. Communicator Mobile enables people to see their colleagues' availability, and click to communicate with them using the best method, from IM to email, text to phone call. The names and status of colleagues are embedded directly into the devices' contacts application, enabling people to update their own presence, start and join instant messaging sessions, and begin calls directly from the contact card.

"This application really provides a much more efficient way to work with others as you can see if someone is busy or available, and the best way to start a conversation with them," says Ukko Lappalainen, Vice President at Nokia.

The product is the first coming out of the alliance of Microsoft and Nokia. "Having these two companies work together is really helping us serve the needs of our customers.", says Roger Wuthrich-Hasenbohler, Executive Vice President at Swisscom / Webcall.

The new application is initially available only for Nokia E72 and Nokia E52. However, the companies plan to deliver Communicator Mobile for Nokia pre-installed on select Nokia smartphones in the future and plan to support additional devices, including the recently announced Nokia E5.

Microsoft has officially announced the KIN One(Code Name : Turtle) and KIN Two (Code Name : Pure) known previously as Project Pink. Microsoft targets this smartphone for Social Networking Kids with it's Social Networking Gadgets. Kins are up for sale on Today (May 6th - Thursday)

Microsoft's SQL Azure Database Released

Microsoft has released the community technology preview of SQL Azure database along with the preview of an SQL server driver for building PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) applications for the Azure platform.

The Azure Services Platform is seen as Microsoft's move into the growing cloud computing market, reports CNET News. SQL Azure database, which is a relational database, is a rival to Amazon.com's SimpleDB.

"With SQL Azure, developers building Web 2.0, ASP.Net and PHP applications can use familiar tools and data models to develop on a pay-as-you-grow, secure, scalable and highly available database service at minimal infrastructure cost," Microsoft Senior Program Manager, David Robinson wrote in a blog post Tuesday. He added, "There are really no comparable solutions available today."

SQL Azure's relational data model supports Microsoft and Sybase's proprietary extension to the SQL database language, Transact-SQL. There is a high degree of compatibility with SQL Server, allowing for easy migration of business and Web applications to the cloud.

The free trial will last until November, when the service is fully launched. There will be two editions, a Web Edition that stores up to 1GB of data for $9.99 per month, and a Business Edition that stores up to 10GB at $99.99 per month.
